Class Information

Class Dates: Web-based Training

Status: Guest

Location: Online

Class Description: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Quality, Safety & Oversight Group (QSOG) developed the Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC) Refresher Training to help surveyors maintain proficiency in surveying ASCs for compliance with CMS regulations and requirements.

Because skills can fade with time, experienced surveyors should complete refresher training every few years. Benefits of refresher training include assuring the surveyor’s ability to successfully meet job requirements, boosting confidence and morale, and retaining staff. Refresher training is one method to provide continuing education for all surveyors.

This refresher training is designed for experienced ASC surveyors who have successfully completed the Ambulatory Surgical Center Basic Training.

This course provides refresher training on key topics to review and refresh the experienced ASC surveyor’s knowledge of the ASC survey process and the Conditions for Coverage (CfC) found in the electronic Code of Federal Regulations (e-CFR) at Title 42, Public Health and in the State Operations Manual (SOM), Appendix L—Guidance for Surveyors: Ambulatory Surgical Centers; Appendix I—Survey Procedures for Life Safety Code Surveys; and Appendix Z—Emergency Preparedness for All Provider and Certified Supplier Types.
